What type of console do you have? (i.e. Does it have HDMI? A built in MU? etc.) Have you tried your profile on another Xbox 360 console with a different HD? (Sounds like you tried the HD itself in a different console).

I have not used it yet, but I have gotten a lot of recommendations for RSSBandit http://rssbandit.org/ It's pretty cool in that it will keep things synced with Google Reader or NewsGator, but still gives you a nice desktop client.
