  • Re: Normal map breeding program.

Cheers Shawn. I was probably overly fretting, just wanted some reasurrance that I wasnt wondering down a path of utter madness. J. Ps... you are only 5 posts away from quite a landmark :)

  • Normal map breeding program.

Hi all, just wanted a quick sense check. When I started out making my terrain thingy, I wanted to get to being able to render a 4097x4097. I have gotten there and everything is happy and well. (yay). However, I am creating a big normal map, 4097x4097 (on my lappie I have to scale it down to 2048). So now I obviously want to go one ...

  • Re: Sign In Problem

Just so you know, in addition to the login problem, some forum threads have just been re-directing me to the home page. (including this one, but on my second attempt I got in.) J. ps.. Just thought additional info might be useful.

  • Re: External content

Yes you can! You will need to set "Copy if newer" so they are accessible.

  • Re: Basic terrain with trees and sky

There is a component here http://ltrees.codeplex.com/ that can handle trees. From my initial poking around and questions on the discussion board, it looks like it is mainly designed for "walking aroung" scenarions, rather than flying. (due to the way the leaves are billboarded) You could give it a try. (it does funky ...

  • Re: So what's with ratings?

I apologise for the rampant speculation. Maybe they noticed naughty behaviour, and so have stopped updates whilst they lock it down? If so this could be construed as good news, as it shows they are monitoring for odd behaviour. If this is the case, maybe MS won't be able to comment at the moment? J. ps.. I am a bit of ...

  • Re: Farseer Physics

Have you added a reference to the Farseer project? (the Using lines just make it easier to reference the Farseer classes) If you expand the "References" folder, can you see Farseer? You can either add a reference to the project or the DLL, I advise adding the project to the solution, and then adding a refernce to the ...

  • Re: Is my normal mapping abnormal?

Thanks very much for that guidance, the whole concept of signed values was a bit new to me and unnerving. Currently I am just playing around learning new bits, but when I come to package this up a bit, I will look at wrapping it up in a content processor. Cheers again JB

  • Re: Is my normal mapping abnormal?

Thank you both for your replies. Shawn, will I be able to save a texture with that kind of format?  I am having trouble picturing how it will work (Sorry if the answer is incredibly obvious, first time I have heard of that kind of feature) J.

  • Is my normal mapping abnormal?

Hello all! I am still having a lovely time writing my terrain engine doodad. (I don't know why, I just find it really enjoyable). anyhoo, I just tried generating a normal map for it (I am using geomipmapping, so the further away bits where looking a bit undetailed). And I just got it working (yay!). I just wanted to ask ...
