  • Re: getting started totally from scratch

As soon as I saw M$ I switched off.
  • Re: Normal Mapping rendering issue in ShipGame

Finally.  It appears I was missing a renderstate... graphics.GraphicsDevice.RenderState.DepthBufferEnable = true; graphics.GraphicsDevice.RenderState.AlphaBlendEnable = false; graphics.GraphicsDevice.RenderState.AlphaTestEnable = false; One (or all) of those fixed it.
  • Normal Mapping rendering issue in ShipGame

Hello I'm trying to lift the rendering from the ship game and stick it into my own framework.  Everything works but the model renders with the wrong texture - the one I'm seeing is ship1_i.tga so the model comes out black with the odd blue bit.  When I build the ShipGame it's fine but I can't see what I've ...
  • Re: Share your sales numbers

Bit of a shame really because there's really no reason why IG can't be as successful as XBLA and make the developers the same kind of money. On a side note - we also went through the 10,000 sales barrier recently.

  • Re: Are people making money off homemade game yet?

Depends, if you want to start a 20 man studio off the back of this one game then probably not.  If you want to earn some extra cash then you may as well.

  • Re: ...Community Games being sold at online retailer?

I wonder if they're signing up for a new US account (with free 1 month gold trial) and purchasing the game.  Stick both on a memory card and ship that?  Not sure what the pricings would be and not entirely sure what would be illegal about that - I presume MS would have something in their T&C which prevent you from selling ...

  • Re: Failing is getting out of control....

I'm still not sure what your issue is.  Is it, as someone points out, the fact you want a game to pass because it only has obscure crashes?  The thing is with that if 10  people are trying your game and 1 of them finds a crash then that isn't obscure.  It might take mad steps to repro but if 10% of the audience has ...

  • Re: no leaderboards / achievements related to app domination in xblcg?

I think it's going to be really difficult to police.  Say MS give us 50GP to use within the game.  I could easily write a solid looking game with legit ways to collect the GP but for myself it can use a code that unlocks them.  I just don't tell the reviewers this and there's no way anyone would be any wiser.  So ...

  • Re: not too good press but press

It doesn't say "Make Games, Get Rich" though.  Seriously, we should all thank our lucky stars we have this opportunity.  You don't get it with any other console and if you've ever tried to sell games on the PC you'll realise how hard it is to get noticed.

  • Re: not too good press but press

You've missed the point - if XBLCG's quality was a lot lot higher (almost unattainably high) then there would have been more visibility.  ie. If 90%+ of the games on the service were amazing there'd be enough word of mouth and news sites would be falling over themselves to tell people about it.
