• Re: Connect Issue: Suggestions for Reputation Perks

Sorry but that's just nonsense.  The entire site is geared toward helping all devs, newbie or otherwise, create great products with XNA.  Some people are givers and some are takers.  The givers deserve props and rewards for everything they do.  I just can't understand your "Just do your job" approach, followed ...

You know what?  Here's a surprise - it was my fault entirely.  Thanks for the help guys. Regards, Mike

  • Re: Trial timer oddness

Setting Guide.SimulateTrialMode in the game constructor is supposed to make the game act like trial mode when you deploy from VS.  Otherwise how could you debug trial mode logic?  Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't.  Seems like it's not an issue that impacts published or deployed games invoked from the dash, but only ...

  • Trial timer oddness

Ooh la la, here's something I've just stumbled on... I'm working on the trial experience for Space Pirates, and setting Guide.SimulateTrialMode = true (and I'm checking it's set at runtime with a breakpoint, and it is being set) but the trial isn't timing out!  I've restarted the game AND the Xbox but to no ...

  • Re: A reason to not submit apps to XBLIG

(picks up schoolbag and sulks off) **mutter mutter** Fair enough, I got a bit carried away earlier.  I just thought it would be nice to be proactive in light of the quote rather than see devs working for weeks/months on apps of whatever quality, only to have the rug pulled out from under them if/when they're put at a disadvantage by ...

The ability to go to peer review and have a game live on the service is GRANTED by Microsoft
This is valid for both games and non-games. I hate crap apps and I hate crap games as well. No difference for me, crap is crap. But they pass the review process and they ...

  • Re: A reason to not submit apps to XBLIG

Spot on Jim, as usual. I can't understand why this is so contentious.  I would always defend something like eMuse, because it's a quality product which is entertaining to use from my perspective.  HOWEVER, the smoke signals from MS are that apps are causing headaches when it comes to allowing access to the achievements ...

There are any number of free, short term file hosting sites.  Here's a list. Regards, Mike

  • Re: A reason to not submit apps to XBLIG

We're not talking about what's fun and what's not.  Someone with a great deal of influence on the future of XBLIG has said that he'd love to give us access to achievements, but that apps on the service are a major blocker to that moving forward.  Now we can sit about and say "well I'm permitted to do it now so ...

  • Re: A reason to not submit apps to XBLIG

I can understand what you're saying, and I do (despite the tone of my previous posts) realize that as much effort goes in to a decent app (eMuse for example) but if I were program manager trying to convince the higher powers in the Xbox hierarchy that Gs and awards for products on the indie games channel would be great, the one thing I would ...
