I think it might be brilliant. Looks as if it has potential at least. In your case I wouldn't make a volleyball game but rather something like squash. Or invent rules for something completely different. (I forgot about that thread, otherwise I would have answered sooner.)

Personally I have not yet seen any official statement that says that the numbers denote a ranking so they could simply be an enumeration.
