    Some Questions

Hi, I have a few preliminary questions for DBP 2008.

-If you enter a game for the AI contest, can you continue working on it for the main competition?

-Is the main competition going to have a "make anything" theme like last year?

    Regards,
    Simon

Most likely. I don't know for 100% certainty, but I can't see any reason why you couldn't. You always retain your games as your property after the contests, and I know they allowed it last year. So I would plan on it.

Nobody knows for sure yet. It might be, but it might also have a theme. Hopefully they do a "make anything" but we'll have to wait and see what it turns out to be.

I'd like to see some categories, like "shooter", "puzzle", "rpg", etc, but who knows...

Yeah, wasn't Viduce a warm-up finalists and a main finalist?

As for the main theme... I can't think that they will box it into a theme. It would kind of beat the purpose if say 4 shooters get published on XBL...

    RPG FTW!!! :D

Or boardgame type game, since I have a lot of stuff for one already. ;)

I'd rather see some crazy games that defy categorization :-)

The only problem with that is once you get out of the normal genres the design tends to degrade if you don't have some experience to guide you.

The "make-anything" theme was good. It attracted some really different ideas.

Yeah, I can't see why they won't do it again...
