Using DirectDraw in 64-bit Vista with more that 4Gb total RAM

    Hi,

I am writing a 64-bit application for my 64-bit Vista system. When I put in 4Gb of RAM in my system, my application bluescreens intermittently while creating a set of IDirectDrawSurfaces. I think it is an access violation blue screen. Can this be a card specific problem, or is DirectDraw runtime limited to 32-bit applications only? I am using an ATI HD 3600.

    Thanks,

DirectDraw has been deprecated for going on eight years now. I'm surprised you can even make it compile for a 64-bit target. If you need to blit bitmaps around, use Direct3D; it's faster, better, cheaper, and more supported than DirectDraw.

14 days after getting my RROD box back, it's going back for service again. Grr.
