gxm file of Queried Virtual Shadow Maps

I bought the book of ShaderX5.
There are shader code of QVSM and the gxm 3d model files in this book'CD.
\04 Shadows\4.5 Queried Virtual Shadow Maps
I had read the chapter4.5 and implement the QVSM.
Now I want to compare the applications of this book and mine.
So I want to read the 3d model file(.gxm) in this book.
But I am very strange to gxm file.
Does somebody know the gxm file's format or how to transfer it to xfile?

This book'CD has only the shader code and executable application file of QVSM. But there is no any source code and header file in the book's CD.

GXM is not, as far as I know, a model format. It is a macro file for Generic CADD Pro. Generic CADD Pro models would have a .GXC or possibly .GXD extention. It is possible that the author used a custom file format for his models and happened to choose .gxm as a coincidence.

If the code in the book loads and displays these models, why not just use the code provided there?

Have you tried just opening the files in Notepad? It's a slim chance, but perhaps they are text formats that you can then figure out on your own. At least worth trying once just to see.

Thank you! The file is binary file. I cannot see the data structure from the binary data.

I cannot confirm the gxm is whether the Generic CADD Pro. Could somebody tell how to read it or Use which viewer to see the gxm file. For better , support me the code for reading gxm file to mesh.

So I upload the complete shader code and its execuatble application file in the web:

Generic CADD Pro's gxm files are plain text, so I doubt that the files you have are from that application. I'm more convinced that the format is a custom one the author made up for the book examples. I could be wrong, though.

You might check the book, the CD, or the book's website and see if there is a note indicating what was used to create the models.
