    Problems with model sizes

I'm trying to create some models for my game but I'm having problems with the model sizes.

The game is currently running using some of the X models from the XNA Samples as placeholders. Now I want to replace these placeholder graphics with my own models.

The problem is that the scale in Mod Tool seems to be very different to whatever the sample models were created in. i.e. if I create a model in Mod Tool then it seems too small to be visible in my game.

Or if I load one of the XNA sample models into Mod Tool, such as the asteroid, then its so big that its way bigger than the grid and causes problems with the near/far clip planes. i.e. if you zoom out so that you can see the whole object then you get some of the object not being drawn.

I've tried rescaling my game (i.e. zooming the camera in) so that I can see the objects I've created in Mod Tool, but it doesn't seem to work. I still can't see the objects! I guess thats something I'll have to look into more.

But in the mean time, is there a way to change the settings in Mod Tool so that it works with much bigger objects? i.e. I'd like to be able to use the grid even on the asteroid sized objects.

Also, whilst we're ont he subject. Is there a way to display a ruler or something so that I can see roughly how long  something is?

    Thanks
    Ben
